My art is featured in a book!
I am so happy to finally show you a finished project a long time in the making: “Jesus Felt It Too” A book brought to you by the same authors that brought you “Dear Divine Daughter”. I have two pieces of art featured in this book: I depicted Christs feelings of Meek and Displeased.
Meek: A depiction of Christ entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday
Displeased: A depiction of Christ when his disciples turned the children away.
“Janelle Susan Cunningham has always had an immense love for art and paints during her small breaks from motherhood in her Colorado home. She is inspired by the beauty of flowers, the strength of motherhood, and Christ's unconditional love in our lives.
This illustration is one of two she did in this book.
When we were trying to decide on the group of illustrators to use for this book, we knew Janelle was a must to reach out to. We had cartoony, realistic, etc. but we called her style "Brush Strokey" haha. Janelle's artwork has such a lovely, feminine vibe that we knew would be a nice juxtaposition to some of the more masculine-feeling styles. As this book is intended for boys and girls, men and women, we knew the balance would be wonderful. And Janelle's illustrations did not disappoint! I was admittedly surprised when her illustration for "Displeased" came back and portrayed such a tender moment. But after thinking about the whole purpose of this book, Jesus's emotion of displeased was so validated because of the tender love He had for the little children. Love that Janelle decided to portray the "What is something good that Jesus did with his emotion?" question. He used his emotion to teach his disciples by example how to treat the least in His kingdom. Although Janelle illustrated Displeased, we were very pleased with her work haha!”
